Melbourne Cup

You are here: Home / General / Melbourne Cup

November 27, 2018 //  by Finley Regional Care

Giddy-Up!! And didn’t we though. Melbourne Cup here at FRC once again proved to be the ONLY place to be on the day the nation stops.

Wendy, Kristin, Helen, Jackie and the team put in a sterling effort to decorate the “Birdcage” with simple elegance, the theme of the day. Eye-catching floral displays were abound and fillies / mannequins showed off some pretty special outfits on loan from our very generous local 2nd hand boutiques.

We had to use mannequins this year because our usual dress-up mad-man refused to be pinched on the behind one more time by random old fingers. In truth he loves it but he decided this year that the best way to shock everyone was to wear a “very snappy suit” and make “dapper” the new black.

All of this was of course eclipsed when the beautiful ladies of FRC turned up and turned it on. The Ladies and Gentlemen all looked wonderful but the biggest congratulations has to go out to the two Beryl’s for taking out the top gongs.

After a packed afternoon of eats and sweeps and lots of laughter it was time to head back to the stables for well deserved lie down- no-one was saying ‘neigh’ to that.
