Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standard 7 – The Residential Community
“I contribute to the community I live in.”
Older Person Outcome Statement
Moving into residential aged care means becoming part of a new community. Under Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standard 7 – The Residential Community, older people have the right to feel connected, respected, included, and supported to live meaningful lives within their residential home.
At Finley Regional Care, we believe that every resident should feel a true sense of belonging. This means having opportunities to maintain relationships with family and friends, participate in activities and events, continue cultural and spiritual practices, and contribute to community life in ways that are meaningful to them.
Standard 7 focuses on supporting residents with their daily living needs while encouraging choice, independence, social connection, and participation. It also ensures residents experience smooth and supportive transitions when moving into the home, returning from hospital, or when their care needs change.
A strong residential community is built on respect, inclusion, and meaningful relationships. By listening to residents, involving them in decisions, and creating opportunities to engage with others, we help ensure our home is not just a place to live, but a place where people can thrive.
Together, we are creating a community where every resident feels at home, connected, valued, and empowered to live life their way.
