A warm September has been such a treat after a long winter! We have had a fabulous month – beginning with a visit by the Ukeladies, who were just fantastic! The residents and their visitors were raving about the performance, and I have had a lot of people asking when they will be returning. Another fantastic musical act this month was the 12-piece brass band, “The Splinters”. The residents were so impressed with the musical acts and so were the staff!
The residents have been hard at work getting all our artwork and creations ready for the Finley Show. Our group hot air balloon artwork took first place, and is now proudly displayed in the activity room. John and Ian’s woodwork (which they created during men’s shed visits with Craig every Monday) took home first prize too! And Kerry’s amazing artworks came back with many awards! Well done to all the clever residents who participated in this year’s show.
R U OK? Day was highlighted at the facility with a morning tea. Residents and staff were all welcome as we spoke about the importance of checking in with each other.
The cinema has never been so busy as it’s been this month. We have a great group of regular movie attendees who all look forward to hearing what is screening each week.
The Auxiliary delivered Father’s Day presents to all the dads here. The men stated how nice it was to have a visit and a chat and to receive their gifts. Thank you, ladies, it was very much appreciated! We also celebrated Father’s Day with an afternoon tea, where we discussed our favourite fatherly advice and championed the dads on their special day.
Our AFL footy tipping competition has come to an end. A big thank you to Deb and Rene, who organised this year’s footy comp – terrific work! The residents have said they are already looking forward to next year’s comp.
