How long have you worked at Finley? 

Eight and a half years.

What interested you in working in Aged Care?

The fact that it’s very rewarding.

What is your role at Finley Regional Care? What does it involve?

I am the Team Leader in Hotel Services covering Laundry, Cleaning and Continence Aids.

What are your qualifications? 

I have a Certificate III in Aged Care and Food Handling.

What do you like most about working here?

I like the stability, the co-workers, the residents and the management.

If you had to describe Finley Regional Care in four words, what would you say?

Finley is clean, caring, respectful and inviting.

What has exceeded your expectations or surprised you the most since coming here?

How much I have achieved and how long I have been working here – I have only stayed in Finley because of my job, which I love.

Tell us one thing about you people might not know.

I am a hard worker.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my children, grandchildren and family.

What’s your favourite quote or saying? 

Beauty.

Where do you live?

Finley.

What three traits define you?

I am loyal, honest and respectful.

How do you define success?

Working hard and putting your all into it.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

Samantha from Bewitched.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?

Relax and put my feet up.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

To use a computer.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?

Buy all my children property.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

Still at Finley Regional Care.

The Notebook.

Organised.

Best vacation you’ve been on?

Fiji.

Activities staff member or David’s job – Maintenance Team Leader.

My sister Kaye (who is now deceased).

My Mother – just to talk.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chicken Parma.

If you were an animal what would you be?

A magpie.

If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?

Chicken.

If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

Shoes, a pillow and a tent.

If you were to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?

How to live a happier life.

If your house was burning down, what is the one non-living thing you would save?

Jewellery.

Least favourite food?

Brussel sprouts.

Be respectful.

I am caring, hardworking, very loyal and love my job.

When my son won a footy grand final, and when my grandson was born.

What advice would you give to recent new staff?

Listen, be respectful, and if you have any problems come and see me.

What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?

To always be mindful and cautious about workplace health and safety, infection control and staffing.

What are your three most overused words/phrases?

Thank you, good job, and good morning.

What did you want to be when growing up?

A movie star.

What did you always want to try but never did?

Jumping out of a plane.

What do you like to do on your days off?

Relax and rejuvenate.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Get up early, and then work, work, work!!

What does true leadership mean to you?

A leader is someone to look up to and respect.

What is an ability you wish you had?

Being tech savvy enough to use a computer.

What is on your bucket list?

Jumping out of a plane and travelling.

What is the first concert you attended?

Sherbert.

What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your life thus far?

Death.

What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?

To speak up.

What is the one thing you cannot resist?

Chocolate.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

Coffee.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

Snails.

What are the two worst things you did as a kid?

Fighting with my brothers and staying out late.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

Indoor pets.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

Playing with my ten siblings.

33 – that was my house address growing up.

What is your favourite sport?

Basketball.

What is your greatest fear?

Spiders.

What is your hidden talent?

Fixing things.

What is your personal philosophy?

You only live once.

What one food do you wish had zero calories?

Chocolate.

What phobias do you have?

Spiders and snakes.

What places have you lived in?

Wangaratta, Shell Harbour, Blairgowrie and Finley.

What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love?

Home and Away.

What was your favourite book, toy, or outfit as a child?

Dolly Magazine.

What would people never guess you do in your role?

People know everything I do as I am so approachable.

What would you like to be famous for?

Being a high achiever.

What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

Be responsible.

Where is your favourite place to eat?

The Chinese Restaurant in Finley.

Where would you like to go on a dream vacation?

Anywhere on a cruise.

Where would you like to travel to?

Anywhere with a beach.

Which one would you want most – flying cars, robot housekeepers, or moon cities?

Flying cars.

Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster?

A tiny elephant.

You’re happiest when?

When I’m with my family.

What are your hopes for our industry?

That it will become bigger and more successful.
