Every so often we like to have an in-depth chat with one of our wonderful residents, so that you can get to know them a little better. Today, we talk with Joan Andrews (pictured below with her “little boy Charlie” at one of our games afternoons)

How long have you lived at Finley Regional Care?

Two years.

What do you like most about living here?

The staff.

Tell us one thing about you people might not know.

I have a bad temper.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Knitting and reading.

Where did you grow up?

Gunberi Island.

What’s the best vacation you’ve had?

Travelling with my husband Ken all around Australia.

If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

Food, clothes and a book.

Least favourite Food?

Asparagus.

What did you want to be when growing up?

A schoolteacher.

What do you always want to try and never did?

Playing the piano.

What is the one thing you can’t live without?

Love.

What is your favourite childhood memory?

My first day at school.
