Drought-breaking fundraiser

You are here: Home / General / Drought-breaking fundraiser

October 18, 2018 //  by Finley Regional Care

We worked it out!!!

If you want to break the drought all you need is a man dressed as a duck-dressed as an Indian, using a cake tin and a lagerphone, doing a rain dance around bales of hay- covered with kids hand-prints….. simple.

For those of you who missed our fundraising afternoon last Thursday this is just one of the treats you missed out on. Apart from the delectable afternoon tea provided by our marvellous scarecrows in our kitchen, we also had hours of toe-tapping-boot-scootin’-hand-clapping entertainment by our resident ‘three amigos’ Danny, Keith and Andy.

Word must have gotten out about the fun-loving audience because the party was crashed by very special ‘Guests’- ‘Elvis’ who hasn’t lost any of the smooth movement in his hips or handsome good-looks. And ‘Meatloaf’ who’s raw, sweaty sex appeal even saw a pair of ladies undergarments fly through the air and almost change the part in his hair!!

There were some tears shed at the occasional slow dance to and old favourite song but that soon turned into tears of laughter at just about everything else. It’s impossible to pick a highlight of the day but when the ‘raindance’ actually worked and the Indian/Duck got to dance in the drought-breaking rain we all knew that we had given just a little bit of ‘relief’ to our local farmers.

We are delighted to announce that we raised just over $500 which will be handed over to a local Drought Relief Initiative. Special thank you to all our residents and visitors who attended this event and kindly donated to this very worthwhile cause, and our wonderful staff who helped make this event happen.

See you all next drought……
