As of 1st October, Australia has seen a nationwide change in the number of care minutes that must be provided to residents in aged care.
So, what does this mean for a resident of Finley Regional Care? Well, the baseline amount of care provided for each resident is now 200 minutes of care per resident per day. This is an increase from our previous required care minutes, and allows us to give an even greater level of care to your loved ones. Our residents will now have better access to personal and clinical care delivered by registered nurses, enrolled nurses, personal care workers or assistants in nursing.
And how have we done this? We’ve added more shifts to our roster to cover the busier periods of the day, and have employed additional staff in the morning and afternoon. For our residents living with dementia, there will be an additional staff member to cover the sundowning period and give support to the amazing staff who work in that space over lunch and dinner. We have also recruited a number of new staff from Groworx (an international staffing and training organisation specialising in the healthcare sector), who will add another dynamic to our already diverse team.
This is a positive step forward for the aged care industry, and will ensure that we can provide a continued level of high-quality care to each one of our cherished residents and ensure their needs are met.
