Here at Finley Regional Care, we held an intimate service on ANZAC Day in the activities room. Residents watched streamed versions of the Melbourne and Canberra dawn services. We had the ode read by Robert Atcheson, who also shared two of his own poems – one about “The March” and one reflecting on his visit to Gallipoli. Eileen Oates laid the wreath and Pat Hartman read the poem, “In Flander’s Fields”.
A highlight was Betty Brunt’s great-grandson Max Copeland performing “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes outside on the pergola – this gave our virtual service a more 3D feel. The service was quite possible the only one held in Finley this year.
